Journalism has long been a very respected and sought after career. Most of the creative people , who have a flair for writing, like to go into this profession. Journalism was earlier associated with the print media only. But with the starting of hundreds of private satellite channels and radio channels the scope of Journalism has increased manyfolds. Journalism is to basically give news and information. Journalists have to be versatile with excellent communication skills and should possess good general knowledge. With all skills one can really prove that a pen is mightier than a sword. 

CAREER PROSPECTS

Journalism provides immense scope for students interested in different fields of Journalism related jobs. After having done a course in Journalism one can start by being a reporter/ correspondent, columnist, commentators to being the editor. Photo journalism is
also a part of this field. If one does not want to work on a regular basis then journalism also provides the chance to become a
freelance journalist, who are paid for each piece or article they write. Journalists have an opportunity to work in news agencies,
newspaper groups, news bureaus, Press Trust of India, magazines and journals, radio/TV news service, video magazines,
Directorates of publicity and advertising & visual communication agencies.

Many colleges offer undergraduate degree programs in journalism. Apart from the colleges and universities there are many reputed
and known institutes which offer diploma and postgraduate diploma courses in Hindi, English and regional languages
